Happy 2024 y’all,
I’m back in the NYC area (presently living in Long Island), so if gimme a shout and we will meet. Figured I’d start 2024, with a set of updates that might interest you.
Job Opening for a Platform Architect
My employer is helping a team hire for a role. Since it’s AI-related, I’m sharing it here in case any of you are looking. The job description can be seen below-
If you think you’re a good match, please send an email to dverma@svam.com, and we’ll get the ball rolling. Also, if you’re looking for work, I try to post open jobs when I can on my Instagram. Check it out if that interests you.
Writing Focus for 2024
We had a great 2023. Tech Made Simple more than doubled in readers from 2022. AI Made Simple (which started in mid-January 2023), is now at 130K readers (this was after moving 40K readers out of Substack to experiment with other platforms). Medium also made a comeback towards the later part of the year for me (we hit 11K followers there). Craziest of all, the cult has members in 171 countries.
As I’ve grown, I’ve thought about a lot of where I want this publication to go and how it fits into the space as a whole. I want to create work that I can be proud of. Something that you are glad to have read. My goal is to write at least one article that makes you take a step back and shift your perspective. Speaking in concrete terms, here is where we will focus for 2024-
More guest posts- Some of you are doing very cool work and I wanted to highlight that. I want to open my platform to people doing amazing work and their experiences with AI/Tech in solving problems.
More commitment to exploring niche/overlooked ideas with promise- Many ideas in AI are overlooked for one reason or another. If I see any such topics that I think can disrupt the space, I will prioritize covering them. Learning about all the new ideas will be a challenge, but I think it’s a worthwhile effort.
More social/business articles- The articles I had the most fun writing were the articles with a societal/business inclination (child labor, business incentives for open source, lobbying etc…). While the majority of my writing will stay technical, I will be making a conscious effort to cover these topics from time to time.
This also means that I will have to deprioritize certain aspects. Overall, I have a lot more to say about AI than I do about Software or Computer Science. I will be cutting down the volume of articles published on my sister publication Tech Made Simple significantly, to focus on AI Made Simple. To make up for the lower volume of articles that readers can use to judge the quality of that publication, I am increasing the refund window. As of today, premium subs get a 6-month (180 days) window for a complete refund, no questions asked (increased from the previous 2 months). If you sign up for a premium subscription in TMS, you have 6 months to decide whether you like the content. If you decide it’s not for you, just shoot me a message and I will refund everything.
When all is said and done, I’m having a lot of fun I’m very optimistic about this upcoming year. We’re building something super cool here, and I’m excited to see things play out.
Onto the final update.
Best AI papers of 2023
The Exceptional AI Researcher
created a great compilation of his top 10 papers from last year. This is an insane thing to even attempt, but Seb knocks it out of the park. I was going to cross-post it, but decided to link it here since I was doing this update post anyway (and I don’t want to spam you too many emails). Make sure you check this article out (and sub to Ahead of AI).That’s it for this one.
Catch y’all soon.
Peace.

Huge congrats, Devansh! I love how international our reach can be here.
Let me know if you're after a guest post that might be a good fit for me. I had a good time collaborating on the Turk piece. Would be happy to provide something for you to publish here when the time is right.
